Can I take these two supplements together?

It depends on the pair. Minerals like calcium, iron, zinc, and magnesium compete for absorption and should be spaced about two hours apart. Vitamin C plus iron, or vitamin D with K2 and fat, work together. Pick any two below for an instant, cited verdict.

Vitamin D3 + Iron

NeutralDerived

Vitamin D3 and Iron use different absorption pathways and don't directly interact, but they prefer different conditions.

Why

Vitamin D3 needs dietary fat and is absorbed via chylomicrons. Iron competes with other divalent metals at DMT1 and (for iron especially) absorbs best away from calcium, coffee, tea, and dairy. There's no biochemical competition between them, but the ideal "meal" for each is different.

Practical

Practical rule: take Vitamin D3 morning with a meal containing fat, and take Iron morning on an empty stomach , typically a different time of day.
