Magnesium and calcium share some absorption pathways, but at typical supplemental doses (≤500 mg each) the interaction is small. Splitting can improve GI tolerance more than absorption.
Above ~1,000 mg combined, splitting into two doses is reasonable. Below that, same-meal is fine.
